Page to Stage education pack available for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory T
he second part of the free ‘Page to Stage’ education pack which accompanies the new West End musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has been released. ‘Page to Stage - Part Two’ features exclusive video interviews with the show’s creative team, and behind- the-scenes footage of the process of bringing the show to the stage, as well as activity suggestions. This free multimedia teaching resource has been developed with practicing teachers and provides activities that will introduce pupils to the exciting creative process behind transforming a classic story into a new musical.
The education pack also features an activity booklet containing fun, imaginative activities to guide pupils through the development of crucial elements of the show, including the costume and set design. It also includes activity sheets, containing instructions, templates and tips, plus useful passages from Roald Dahl’s original story. The complete three-part Page To Stage multimedia education resource will enable pupils to follow the creative journey of the production from the very early stages up to the world premiere at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in June 2013. Page to Stage supports Key Stage 2-3: English, Drama, Music, Art and Design & Technology.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory opens at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane on 25th June 2013, with previews from 18 May. Special Education rates are available. School groups of 10 or more can purchase £49.50 tickets for £25.00, for Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Wednesday matinee performances (except 27 May – 1 Jun, 25 Jun, 22 Jul – 31 Aug and 28 Oct – 3 Nov 2013).

Earlier in the day St Albans’ international Lizzie Bird, with the fastest girls’ run of the day, led the St Albans girls’ team to third. St Albans currently holds a hat-trick in the English Schools Cross Country Cup (for U15’s) and it was young members of this year’s winning squad that helped St Albans B team to fourth place in the senior race ahead of most of the major players in senior schools cross country.
The combination of George Harrison and Kenny Everitt as Coach and Manager has brought unparalleled success over recent years to the Hertfordshire-based team.
St Albans wins King Henry VIII Relay for record 10th time T
he boys cross country team at St Albans School has won Coventry’s King Henry VIII School Relay - an event universally acknowledged as the national championship of school relay running - for an unprecedented 10th occasion.
The race looked set to go to the wire, with defending champions Judd School neck and neck with St Albans, until World Biathlete Champion, Robbie Lightowler, recorded a sub-12-minute fifth lap to hand over a 65-

George says he is spoilt for choice at present: “We could have organised our squad, most of whom represented England in the World Championships in Malta last year, in up to 35 different combinations for this race. “There were several difficult decisions to make with so many excellent runners to choose from – we only decided on the final team the day before the race,” continued George. “The whole team ran superbly and for such a young B team to finish only one place out of the medals in the premier relay race in the country shows both our strength in depth and augurs well for the future of St Albans School cross- country.”
