Products Technology File Performance and flexibility from new vision sensor

Omron has recently launched its new FQ2 vision sensor that provides extended function- ality previously not available in a vision sensor format. The FQ2 provides complete flexibility, with over 60 hardware options including fully integrated cameras with high brightness illumination, C-Mount lens cameras, colour and monochrome cameras, as well as high resolution types for accurate inspection. Even units specifically designed for OCV (optical character verification) and barcode verification applications are available.

The FQ2 inspection tool library comes with nine standard inspection items, includ- ing Omron’s ‘Shape Search II’, shape-based inspection tool that provides 10 x speed and ultra-high accuracy detection.

Advanced character verification of printed text, such as date codes and lot codes is now possible on the FQ2 platform. The set-up task has been simplified to allow easy deploy- ment through pre-set character libraries - set-up can be completed in seconds and with- out the need for in-depth knowledge of vision technology.

Stable inspection is guaranteed with the FQ2’s crystal clear image capability. High performance lighting, HDR pro- cessing, polarising filters and a new suite of digital image filters, all ensure the FQ2 pro- vides the best pos- sible image, improving the sta- bility and reliability of your application. Widescreen terminal devices added to HMIs

Siemens Industry has added highly efficient industrial thin clients to its range of robust Human Machine Interface (HMI) devices in widescreen format. SIMATIC Industrial Thin Clients (ITCs) are rugged panel- mount devices that allow the operator use of SCADA, office or IT functionalities directly at the machine.

Equipped with high resolu- tion, high contrast widescreen displays, SIMATIC ITCs are con- nected to one or, in multi-ses- sion mode, up to five servers, such as SIMATIC IPCs. This flexibility supports multiple

ways to achieve efficient opera- tor functionality.

Having no wearing mechani- cal parts (fan or hard disk) makes SIMATIC ITC especially robust and maintenance-free. They are designed for 24 hour continuous operation and also meet high temperature, vibration, shock and electromagnetic com- patibility requirements. SIMATIC Thin Clients are operated using a touch screen or via an external keyboard or mouse connected to the USB interface. There is also an intu- itive set-up wizard to make com- missioning and integration into

Danfoss has enhanced the current version of its VLT AutomationDrive FC 300 series with a POW- ERLINK interface.

As a global supplier of components and solu- tions for motion control, heating and refrigera- tion, Danfoss emphasises energy efficiency as

one of its main goals.

As well as intelligent plug and play technology, the current VLT AutomationDrive FC 300 series, covering motors from 0.25 to 1,400kW, features a modular design and in its more sophisticated ver- sion, also integrates safe stop functionality suitable for EN ISO 13849-1 category 3 installations. These features provide substantial benefits in commis- sioning, operating and maintenance. While USB and RS 485 connectivity are on board, standard features, fieldbus interfaces are selectable options. The latest addition to the VLT AutomationDrive FC 300 series’ connectivity options is POWERLINK.

“Implementation of fast real time network stan- dards had been on our agenda since the roll-out of our current generation of frequency converters in 2007,” said Serdar Gökbulut, Danfoss drives application engineer for Central Europe. “Now that the FC 301 and FC 302 frequency converters are available with a POWERLINK interface, we can better fulfill the ever increasing demand for synchronisation of large numbers of drives in real time environments.” Danfoss www.danfoss.com T: 01895 617 200
