Conair’s TrueBlend blending systems are said to be well suited to handling flake recyclate and other difficult-to-feed

regrind materials. “Certain thin, flaky regrind

– like PET bottle scrap or thicker film and sheet scrap – has granules with relatively large, flat surfaces so they tend to pack together and bridge in conventional hoppers,” says Conair’s blend

HANDLING XY Motion gives moulds a lift

The Forkrane MT1200 from US-based XY Motion is a fork lift mounted placement unit designed for simple and precise handling of moulds up to 1200 pounds (around 550kg). The MT1200 is designed to

be mounted or removed from a standard forklift quickly and

MOULDS Meusburger finds the limits

Austrian mould components maker Meusburger has extended its line of limit and proximity switches for mould

automation applications. The E6500 and E6505 limit

switches are differential types featuring an aluminium

housing and intended for non-contact scanning of ejector sets. The E6500 version is designed for vertical mounting while the E6505 version is suitable for horizontal plate machining. Both are designed for operation up to 120˚C. The E6555 and E6560

proximity switches are available in cyclindrical or rectangular versions and are intended for non-contact monitoring of core puller. ❙ www.meusburger.com

54 INJECTION WORLD | January/February 2013

The latest introduction to the Priamus range of mould monitoring devices is a new hardened-front line of temperature sensors. The company says fast

response cavity melt temperature sensors can provide an alternative to cavity pressure sensors in moulding applications where it is necessary to detect the presence of the melt flow-front. Cavity tempera- ture sensors can detect the arrival of the melt within milliseconds, it claims. ❙ www.priamus.com

provides the user with precision one-handed control of movement in the X, Y and Z axes via a wireless remote controller. The battery-pow- ered unit is suitable for use inside or out. XY Motion produces a wide range of precision placement

units but the Forkrane is its first product for the injection moulding industry. The system is said to provide processors with a cost effective alternative to an overhead crane at a fraction of the cost. ❙ www.forkrane.com

product engineer Jeff Bickel. The Trueblend range uses

two different approaches to overcome feeding problems. For smaller throughput quantities, the units can be fitted with side feeders with steeply angled sides that help prevent the regrind from bridging. The material can then flow easily through an oversized opening at the base to a horizontal auger. Where high volume

throughputs have to be accommodated, the company uses lift augers positioned at an angle in a corner of the regrind bin. Instead of forcing the material into the base of the bin it lifts it, keeping the material in feed zone less tightly compacted. According to Conair, this allows it to flow easily through oversized side gates into the mixing chamber. ❙ www.conairgroup.com
