installationnews UNITED KINGDOM Bierkeller taps Traction Sound

LIVERPOOL’S BIERKELLER Bavarian pub has overcome its difficult acoustics with Traction Sound loudspeakers installed by Oldham-based ProScreens. The venue, which is in a large

concrete room with hard reflective surfaces, features four Traction Sound SDS12i Kodiak loudspeakers, four BR18 Panda subs and four SDS8i Gobi loudspeakers as a delay fill. All loudspeakers are passive and powered by QSC RMX amps. An Allen & Heath iDR matrix mixer handles loudspeaker management. Paul Atherton of UK

Traction Sound distributor RW Salt, said: “[Traction Sound’s] SDS range has low vertical dispersion which is perfect for acoustically difficult venues. You get less energy bouncing off

TURKEY Turkish Assembly upgrades with JTS

THE GRAND National Assembly of Turkey (AKA the Turkish Parliament) has upgraded the microphone system in its Main Hall, located in the capital city of Ankara. For the huge project,

the Parliament’s technical department called upon installer/distributor Elektrosonik, which in turn

suggested JTS Microphones. The Parliament’s

requirements included custom- built gooseneck microphones in the Hall. Prototypes meeting the technical department’s specifications were created over the course of several weeks, and on completion installed in the Main Hall for trials and testing. Upon approval, the rest of the

microphones were manufactured within a month and delivered to and installed in the facility. According to Elektrosonik’s

D.C. Arsiray: “The main challenge was overcoming preconceptions about a new brand and the client’s reluctance to switch from the German-made microphones they’d used previously. They were sceptical about using products originating from the East, or whether JTS could meet their custom specifications quickly enough.

However, they were simply underestimating the power of JTS’s research and development department; after we installed the prototypes and they heard the results, they never said another word about the previous brand.” JTS states its “high quality

and relatively low unit price” sealed the deal, and to date, more than 1,000 gooseneck microphones have been sold to the Turkish Parliament’s technical department. n www.elektrosonik.com.tr www.jts.com.tw

Clarity throughout the venue has been enhanced with Traction’s SDS range

reflective surfaces meaning better clarity throughout the hall. Also because of the long throw of Traction Sound’s loudspeakers we were able to get

away with fewer fill speakers which helped the project come in on budget.”n www.proscreensltd.com www.tractionsound.com

to the system over IP and 17 bespoke stations designed to take the day-to- day punishments of vulnerable locations such as rigging. All elements of the system run on a network of three Gemini intercom matrices connected using Trilogy’s proprietary High Speed Link (HSL), which provides a redundant audio pathway.n www.trilogycomms.com
