Messe Frankfurt Prolight + Sound New product launches and a strong conference programme means there’ll be plenty to see in Frankfurt this year
WITH AN expected 876 exhibitors, Prolight + Sound at the
Frankfurt Messe is one of the pro-audio business’ largest trade fairs. Once again, a host of major product launches are expected along with a strong conference programme. For 2013, all information
events have been grouped under the Prolight + Sound Conference banner. This will combine Media Systems Congress and Prolight + Sound Forum in one area (Hall 9.1 and
the Cosmopolitan Lounge in Hall 9.T). It’s free and runs from 10-12 April. The Prolight + Sound Conference will split into three main sections: Prolight + Sound Forum, Media Systems and VDT Academy. The lectures of the Prolight + Sound Forum will focus on safety in the event sector, the legal and regulatory framework and training opportunities. Media Systems provides an opportunity for manufacturers to present technologies, processes and
solutions from the fields of AV media technology and systems integration. The VDT Academy is hosted by the Association of German Sound Engineers and offers lectures, insight and industry trends. The Frankfurt show is once

again an important forum for product launches. The ZLX series of loudspeakers will make their EMEA debut on the Electro-Voice stand with two passive models – ZLX12 and ZLX15 – and two active models – ZLX12P and ZLX15P. The
ZLX12 consists of a 12” woofer for low-end punch in a compact enclosure and 1.5” high-frequency titanium compression driver, while the ZLX15 features a 15” woofer for extended low- frequency response and 1.5” high- frequency titanium compression driver. The ZLX12P is designed for smaller-venue sound reinforcement or stage- monitoring and features a 1.5” high-frequency titanium compression driver and a 1,000W Class D amplifier. The ZLX15P boasts a 15” woofer and a 1.5” high-frequency titanium compression driver. The company will also have a soundbooth on the stand for product demos. d&b audiotechnik will be
showcasing its latest loudspeakers from its V-Series – the Vi version. Consisting of the Vi8, Vi12 and Vi-SUB, the new installation variants will receive their first public outing in Germany. Loudspeaker manufacturer
Fohhn Audio continues its 2013 focus on beam steering technology at Prolight + Sound. On show are the Focus Modular and Linea Focus ranges of electronically steerable line arrays. The systems are complemented by Fohhn’s latest developments in beam steering technology, Focus Sub Arrays. This new technology enables the set-up and unique real-time control in 0.1 increments, via software, of powerful subwoofer arrays. Also on show, will be the new LX-220 loudspeaker – the latest addition to Fohhn’s Linea LX series. The 2.2m, 4-way, passive hybrid line source system has
