Roland production day attracts fresh faces
By Dave Robinson
ROLAND SYSTEMS Group (RSG) teamed up with Lewitt Microphones and Metropolis Studios in west London for a ‘live production day’ last month, an afternoon and evening demonstrating the capabilities of RSG products and know- how in the live sound and production arena, with an additional focus on broadcast engineering and live video. More than 20 guests travelled to the famous Chiswick High Road studios over the course of the event to see demos of, and talk about the technology behind, the new M-200i digital mixing console, Lewitt’s high-end performance microphones, and Roland’s V-Series video mixers and switchers. The evening session featured live performances from bass guitar/keys combo Nzca/Lines supported by synth-pop newcomers Moscow Youth Cult. The event was webcast live on RSGUK.tv. Lewitt was represented by Sonic8’s Stephen Helm, the UK & Ireland distributor. “The best thing was, these were all
people we’ve not seen before – and it gave us an opportunity to deliver a little education to them too. From that point of view, it’s been a really excellent day,” Peter Heath, RSG business development director, told PSNEurope. “The thinking is that people who received information around the day will get the idea that Roland is about audio, video and music – we do it all.” The day also gave visitors from the wider pro-audio industry a chance to greet Greg Oliver (ex-RCF, ex-KV2), who has just joined the RSG team in a sales capacity. “Greg has great experience in the industry and is very much an engineer – a ‘noise boy’. He has been charged with […] creating opportunities for our dealers. So now, for the first time, we have complete focus on our dealers as well as an end-user strategy,” noted Heath, who went on to confirm that he would like to run another production day at a later date. “Certainly we’ll do it again. Our goal is to be proactive, to support dealers and customers,” he said. n www.rolandsystemsgroup.co.uk
