London REaL EStatE tEaMS Law firm Winckworth Sherwood has strengthened its London Real Estate teams with the appointment of solicitors Mary Ridgeon and James Mackay.


Mary joins Winckworth Sherwood’s market- leading residential plot sales team from London law firm Prince Evans, where she was its head of low cost home ownership. She acts for a number of housing associations creating schemes for plot sales across London and the South East. Recent schemes have included major developments in tottenham Hale and around arsenal Football club’s Emirates stadium.


James joins the firm’s commercial real estate team from nabarro LLP, where he was a senior


associate. James’ clients include government bodies, local authorities, investment and pension funds and landed estates. He also has extensive experience in acting for lenders on property and corporate transactions.


Both Mary and James joined Winckworth Sherwood on 2 January 2013.

Baker & McKenzie (Gaikokuho Joint Enterprise) welcomes new partner Kensaku takase, a Registered Foreign Lawyer (gaikokuho jimu bengoshi) who joined the tokyo office as of January 5. Mr. takase will be working as a member of the Intellectual Property/ Information technology/ Electronic commerce (IP/It/Ec) group and will mainly be involved with cross-border IP matters, having vast experience in the field of intellectual property rights and information technology.


Mr. takase joined the Firm from the Intellectual Property group of a international law firm. He focuses his practice on intellectual property, media, and information technology laws, having assisted numerous clients with copyright and design regulations including contentious trademark issues, passing-off and unfair competition matters, large-scale trademark filing programs, international trademark portfolio management and anti-counterfeiting work. He also advises clients on copyright clearances and licensing

arrangements, and represents them in disputes relating to copyright and design infringement.

coLUMBUS Jones day has announced that former ohio Supreme court Justice Yvette McGee Brown will join as a partner in the Firm's columbus office where she will be part of Jones day's Business and tort Litigation (USa) Practice. She served on the court from January 2011 through december of 2012 after a long and distinguished judicial and public service career.

"Her experience will be extremely valuable to our clients dealing with disputes throughout ohio, the broader Midwest region, and around the world."


Justice McGee Brown brings experience deciding complex constitutional cases, regulatory, utility, health care and contract cases. She was first elected to the Franklin county common Pleas court, domestic Relations and Juvenile division, in 1992. She served on the common Pleas court until 2002, when she retired from the bench to create the center for child and Family advocacy at nationwide children's Hospital. the center is a nationally recognized multi-disciplinary child abuse and family violence program that co- locates prevention, assessment, treatment, research and advocacy services for children and families experiencing abuse. It redefines how hospitals, law enforcement and social welfare groups respond to children and families caught in the cycle of abuse. Justice McGee Brown also brings experience as a corporate leader, having served as a public company director for M/I Homes and on the board of Fifth third Bank of central ohio.
