The Jesuit Wierix Collection from De Krijtberg in Amsterdam

Collections of prints depicting the spiritual fortitude of saints were known as “mirrors” in late medieval and early modern Europe. This exhibition comprises 50 copperplates executed by a family of 17th-century Flemish printmakers: Anton and Hierony- mous Wierix and their brother-in- law, Jan Baptist Barbé. The plates were discovered in the posses- sion of the Amsterdam Jesuits in 2000. New prints that were struck from the old plates will also be on view.

In his masterwork, The 613, Archie Rand has created what may be among the largest free-standing paintings in the world, comprising 613 individual paintings that depict the commandments from the Torah. The exhibition makes use of images inspired by popular culture.
