Amanda A. Jones (BS and BA ’08, JFRC) graduated from Michigan State University in August with an MSW. She will shortly be graduating from Michigan State University College of Law and will be preparing to take Illinois’ February Bar Exam.


Sandra K. Kern (MSW ’08) is a social worker for VITAS Innovative Hospice, caring for patients and families in the home and ALF settings. She married her husband, John, on September 24, 2011, in the south suburbs of Chicago.


Louis E. Martinez (MA ’08) is the first vice president of the Illinois Academy of Criminology. He also serves as an editorial board member for The Journal of Police Crisis Negotiations.


Kelly A. McMahon (BS ‘08, MA ‘11) is finishing her master’s in criminal justice research and writing her research paper, “The Influence of Social Support and Child Care Responsibilities on Compliance for Female Probationers.”


Ellis Morris (BBA ’08) welcomed a son around the time of his graduation. Since then, he has been a father, working professional, and engaged community figure.


Juan L. Solis (MBA ’08, MSF ’10) relocated to San Francisco in 2012 for JP Morgan Chase.


Pandora Agnew (BA ’09) is a 5th-grade teacher at Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy in Las Vegas, Nevada. She recently completed her last year as a corps member in Teach for America.


Michael Bessette (BA ’09) is a patent attorney specializing in chemical and nutritional inventions.


Elizabeth Branney-Gant (BA ’09) and her husband, Jayson, welcomed their first child, Audrey Marie Gant, on June 19, 2012. Audrey was born in Rockford, Illinois.


Joshua Cottrill (MSW ’09) is a therapist in northwest Indiana but is looking to return to the Chicago area.


Dennis Gray (BS ‘09) completed a master’s degree in applied mathematics at Northwestern University. Since completing school, he married Tuyet Thi Tran. The couple began a month-long expedition through Vietnam this December.


Sara Markovic (MS ’09, BS ’10) is lives in New York City and is in her second year of dental school at NYU College of Dentistry.


Arthur E. Mayes (JD ’09) is working with Bradley D. Birgé, PC, and as a solo criminal practitioner.


Joseph M. Mitchell (BS ‘09) is attending law school and hopes to enter the health law field.


Hema Patel (BS ‘09) completed her Master in Public Health from Benedictine University in May 2011. She is now a second year-physician assistant student at Howard University.


Pamela S. Proietti (MA ‘09) completed the required CPE training for chaplains in June 2012. She is now applying for her chaplain certification with the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC).


Julianna Shamoon (BS ‘09) was admitted to the Tufts Dental School. She’s a candidate for the Class of 2014.


Tamara Shlyapintokh (BA/BS ‘09), since graduating, has moved to New York to start graduate school and work towards obtaining her doctorate in physical therapy.


Douglas Geiger (PhD ’10) moved to New York City and completed his first year as vice president for student affairs at Manhattanville College. He also serves on the Westchester County LGBT Advisory Board.


Victoria Giampaoli (BS ‘10), a third- year veterinary student at University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. She went on a volunteer trip to Costa Rica to help spay, neuter, and give check-ups this past summer.


Staci Holthus (BA ’10) moved to Washington, DC, after graduation. As part of her two-year commitment to Teach for America, she is teaching 7th- grade pre-algebra at the SEED Public Charter School.


Michael Hulburt (BS ’10) is enrolled in the Master’s Entry to Nursing Practice program at DePaul University.


Kate M. Jadin (nee Thierry) (MSW ‘10) and Bennie Shenelle were married October 20, 2012, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Chicago. The couple honeymooned in the Canary Islands before returning to Chicago where they will continue to reside.


Steven J. Kass (BS ’10) is a second- year medical student at University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis.


Peggy J. Sajdak (BBA ‘10) is a trust officer at Fifth Third Bank. Sajdak has more than 17 years of experience.


2010s


Ramona Bashshur (MJ ’10) completed a graduate certificate in the Foundations of Public Health from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in 2011.


Carol Castleberry (MA ’10) is an adjunct instructor in social justice at the University of South Florida, Tampa.


Michael J. Stahl, Jr. (BBA ’10), a financial representative with the McTigue Financial Group of the Northwestern Mutual, has been appointed college unit director in Chicago. Stahl began his career with Northwestern Mutual in 2008 as an intern.


Kayla A. Swanson (BSED ’10) teaches 3rd grade at Keith County Day School in Rockford, Illinois. She is grateful for all the School of Education at Loyola prepared her for and loves keeping in contact with fellow alumni to network and share

Bill Brittany (BSN ’11) passed the NCLEX exam, became ACLS-certified, and has done volunteer work for diabetes. He is working on getting PALS-certified, beginning a medical Spanish course, and looking for an RN position.


Melissa D. Browning (PhD ‘11) recently joined Loyola’s Institute for Pastoral Studies as its graduate program director for the MA in social justice and community development. She is also a signed blogger for the Huffington Post.


Alison Burch (BA ’11) is serving with the Peace Corps in Khust, Ukraine. She is a TEFL Volunteer (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) working at the Karpatsky Institute of Entrepreneurship in the Trans- Carpathian region.


Jordan Burns (BS ’11) found her dream job working as a crime scene specialist with the Gwinnett County Police Department in Lawrenceville, Gwinnett County, Georgia.


Sarah Cleary (MEd ’11) is pursuing a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Denver.


Mary Ellen L. Engman (Med ’11) is the assistant director of alumni engagement at Seattle University in Seattle, Washington.


Angela Gonzalez Farar (BS ’11) welcomed the birth of her son.


Abbas M. Khan (BA ’11) works for a brand strategy, advertising, and culinary design firm in Boulder, Colorado.


Courtney Clark (BA ‘12) serves in the Peace Corps in Guinea as a public health volunteer.
