Photo by Wendy Nelson/Blue Fox Photography Three-time and reigning U.S. men’s champion Jeremy Abbott has experienced a career fi lled with great highs and lows. Now a little more than a year away from the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, the 27-year-old Abbott under- stands the urgency to elevate his skating to the highest level if he’s to win the gold medal. The Colorado native returned home to Colorado Springs, Colo., for Champs Camp in Au- gust, where local photographer Wendy Nelson took pictures of the standout athlete and performer. The cover photograph was taken in a downtown parking lot, in front of a wall mural of Mozart. The cover story begins on page 26. Enjoy!
