11 NOVEMBER: MACAO Reports emerge that two pickpockets had been arrested for stealing more than US $5,000 from other passengers on board a flight from Shanghai to Macao.
15 NOVEMBER: OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA Geoffrey McGann was arrested at Oakland Airport when screeners found him to be in possession of a homemade wristwatch what looked highly suspicious, with a toggle switch, fuses, wires all connected to the ‘timer’. McGann is an artist who designs creative timepieces, but he was charged with possessing materials to make an explosive device.
30 NOVEMBER: MOSUL, IRAQ A police patrol spotted a locally-made rocket launcher with four Katyushas set to target Mosul International Airport. Three militants, allegedly belonging to al Qaeda in Iraq, were later arrested and confessed.

3 OCTOBER: STAVANGER, NORWAY Two intoxicated passengers started fighting on a SAS Airlines flight en route from Oslo to London, forcing the pilot to divert to Stavanger. The couple, aged 32 and 34, became aggressive when they were denied alcohol and prevented from smoking.
20 NOVEMBER: BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA Jonathan Atherton, an Australian comedian, was fined AU $800 for his disruptive behaviour on a flight from Singapore to Brisbane on 3 September. It is claimed that he had taken a mix of alcohol and tablets to calm his fear of flying.
23 NOVEMBER: JFK, NEW YORK Stacy-Ann Smith, 27, was arrested along with her boyfriend, Jason McCaulay, when the latter allegedly stole an iPhone from another passenger at a JFK security checkpoint. Smith was in uniform, but travelling off duty. McCaulay was caught through a review of CCTV footage. Smith is alleged to have tried to hide the phone from the police.
23 NOVEMBER: CHICAGO, ILLINOIS Sheila Schultz, an American Airlines flight attendant, was arrested at O'Hare after screeners found a fully loaded .22 calibre revolver in her carry-on luggage.
29 NOVEMBER: DETROIT, MICHIGAN Nicole Rock filed a federal lawsuit against the philanthropist Alfred Taubman, alleging that, over the course of the six years in which she had
been employed by him as a flight attendant on his private jet, he had repeatedly sexually abused her. Rock claims Taubman kissed her, groped her, ripped her underwear and blouse, tried to force her to perform oral sex and had asked her intimate questions about her sex life. Rock resigned in 2011 and is now seeking $29 million for discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination.

3 OCTOBER: SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA Scott Norman Laughlin, 39, was arrested when the Tiger Airways flight he was on landed. Laughlin had allegedly made threatening comments and gestures during the flight from Coolangatta. He was abusive to crewmembers who challenged him about his frequent visits to the toilets during the one-hour journey and swore at the arresting police officers.
6 OCTOBER: RECIFE, BRAZIL Three passengers had to be restrained on board a Lufthansa flight en route from Sao Paulo to Munich. Intoxicated, the men became physical when denied more alcohol. The aircraft diverted to Recife.
8 OCTOBER: BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA A passenger on a LAN Argentina flight, en route from Buenos Aires to Neuquen, assaulted a flight attendant when she noticed that he seemed unwell and sought out medical assistance on board. It later emerged that the man had a heart condition. The flight landed in Neuquen as planned but LAN had to cancel the return flight due to insufficient crewmembers being available due to the flight attendant’s injuries.
9 OCTOBER: CHICAGO, ILLINOIS A United Airlines flight, en route from Los Angeles to London, diverted to O'Hare when an intoxicated female passenger assaulted other passengers and a flight attendant.
12 OCTOBER: XI’AN, CHINA A man became disruptive on a flight from Shenzhen to Xi’an and tried to open the windows of the aircraft for fresh air. He threw juice at a flight attendant, spat at fellow passengers and cut his hands as he hit the window repeatedly. He was arrested on arrival in Xi’an.

12 OCTOBER: YEREVAN, ARMENIA Three drunken passengers became disruptive and issued threats on board an S7 Sibir Airlines flight, en route from Moscow to Yerevan.
13 OCTOBER: SINGAPORE A male passenger allegedly physically assaulted a flight attendant on a Jetstar flight as it prepared to land in Singapore from Phuket. The flight attendant tried to stop the man’s wife from taking their daughter to the toilet whilst the aircraft was on final approach. The child allegedly urinated on the floor.
16 OCTOBER: SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA A man was escorted off a Qantas flight which had arrived in Sydney from Perth. He had allegedly become abusive when a couple reclined their seats in economy class.
16 OCTOBER: SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH Anatoliy N. Baranovich tried to open the rear door of a Delta Airlines flight when it landed in Salt Lake City as he allegedly thought the aircraft was on fire.
17 OCTOBER: LONDON, UK Mubarak Hamad, 29, a Bahraini billionaire prince who lives in London, was arrested and charged with being drunk on board a British Airways flight preparing to depart for Bahrain. Hamad had allegedly tried to gain access to the flight deck in order to complain about the service.
18 OCTOBER: TRIVANDRUM, INDIA An Air India Express flight en route from Abu Dhabi to Kochi diverted to Trivandrum due to bad weather. It is alleged that tensions increased when the crew said they were out of hours and would have to be replaced. Passengers tried to stop the flight deck crew leaving, prompting one of the pilots to send out a hijack alert. The passengers remained on board for nine hours after which a replacement pilot flew them to Kochi.
19 OCTOBER: MONTREAL, CANADA Canadian New Democrat MP Romeo Saganash had to be removed from an Air Canada Jazz flight after being determined to be too drunk to fly from Montreal to Val D'or.
23 OCTOBER: ABUJA, NIGERIA Passengers helped apprehend Aminu Galadima on an Arik Air flight, en route from Maidugri to Abuja, after he started acting strangely and shouted out Allah Akhbar. Galadima had already been under security surveillance for his behaviour before the flight. As a result his room at the Greenland Hotel in Maidugri had been searched, he had been taken for hospital evaluation after his family had confirmed he was mentally unstable and he had missed a flight to Abuja a few days earlier.
