Completed in February 2009, the St. Paul Monas- tery in St. Paul, Minn., utilized materials from Fire- stone Metal Products and Revere Copper Products Inc. that gives the building a distinct look. M.G. McGrath Inc. fabricated and installed 8,400 square feet of custom-sized 20-ounce, 24- by 36-foot Tecu natural copper MG S-Slip shingles on stud framing over the 30# felt paper, including the associated trims, in addition to the 20-ounce Tecu natural cop- per fascia spire. M.G. McGrath also fabricated and installed

0.04-medium bronze anodized UC-500 12-foot fl ush panels, with seams 12 inches on-center installed over hat channel and 30# felt paper, including associ- ated trims. The Tecu natural copper was supplied by Revere Copper, while Firestone supplied the medium bronze anodize. Grace HT Ice and Water Shield was supplied by Grace Construction Products. M.G. McGrath supplied and fabricated the

structural tube frame and sheeting for the large spire, along with all of the engineering. It was prefabricated and hoisted and bolted directly to the steel that was engineered and already in place. The architect had a very particular look for the

project and the patina metal look fi t the bill. All cop- per panels had varying patina patterns to the cus- tom appearance the architect desired. The project was challenging because each area of construction had a different patina request. All copper panels were MG S-Slip panels to allow for the low-profi le unobtrusive architectural appearance the archi- tect desired, while still maintaining the expansion requirements of the project.
