Te historic centre of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk will be transformed into a wonderful Christmas market with colourful stalls selling local produce and crafts as well as traders from around the UK and mainland Europe, traditional fairground rides and on-stage entertainment.
Te Angel Hill area of Bury St Edmunds, with its recently crowned cathedral, medieval Abbey Gate and links with Charles Dickens is the ideal setting for a traditional Christmas Fayre.
Visitors on Friday and Saturday will also be able to sample the delights of Bury St Edmunds provisions market on the Buttermarket and Cornhill while, this year.Tere will be street entertainment on all three days leading up into the town centre and more stalls in the new shopping centre ‘Arc’.
CHRISTMAS IN CIRENCESTER
30th Nov – 16th Dec Te heart of Cirencester will be transformed by their Christmas Market; 35 beautifully adorned wooden chalets, each decorated with festive swags and white pea lights, between them selling a wide range of clothes, gifts and toys, together with festive food and drink. Perhaps take in some ice-skating in the Abbey Grounds set against the stunning backdrop of the Parish Church - or for those not too adventurous, relax with a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy the surrounds. Te skating rink will be open daily from midday - 8pm. A programme of activities which will centre on the Christmas market, but spill out across the town. Tis will include the switching on of the lights, the return of the popular and hugely well supported lantern procession, as well as live music and street performances.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market has become a huge favourite with both residents and visitors to the city from all over the UK and Europe. Combined with the city’s own Christmas Craft Fair of local traders, it offers a total of over 180 stalls to browse and enjoy. Open daily from 10am-9pm, it is the largest authentic German market outside of Germany and Austria . Enjoy the feel of a small village within the heart of the bustling city centre, with picturesque wooden chalets offering traditional handcrafted gifts, including jewellery, wooden toys, dolls and candles. Visitors’ senses will be delighted as they are invited to enjoy theGlühwein , German beers, traditional sausages, meats, sweets, marzipans, breads and pastries. Te whole experience will be enhanced with live music every lunchtime and evening from a traditional bandstand.
WINCHESTER CATHEDRAL
CHRISTMAS MARKET 22nd Nov – 23rd Dec
Founded in 2006, the Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market is recognised as one of the best in Europe, renowned for its unique location, high quality exhibitors and bustling atmosphere. Christmas gifts, decorations and festive foods can be found in abundance.
Te Christmas Market is inspired by traditional German Christmas markets and attracts more than 350,000 visitors each year. Te pretty wooden chalets are situated in Winchester Cathedral’s historic Inner Close surrounding an large open-air real ice rink. All the exhibitors have been hand- picked for their interesting, high quality and unique products many of which can’t be bought on the high street. Open from 10am - 6pm Sun - Wed and 10am - 7.30pm Turs - Sat.
