THE DERNGATE Dickensian fun for all the family this Christmas

Celebrating the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’ birth, one of the most famous festive tales of all time will be brought to life this Christmas on Northampton’s Royal stage. In a charming production for all the family to enjoy, Royal & Derngate present A Christmas Carol from Wednesday 28 November to Sunday 6 January.

Meet wealthy miser Ebenezer Scrooge – all set to greet Christmas Day with his traditional “bah humbug”! But not this year... T e Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future have other ideas and appear on Christmas Eve to show Scrooge the consequences of his bad-tempered ways.

Featuring some of the best-loved Dickensian characters, including Jacob Marley, Bob Cratchit and his son Tiny Tim, Neil Duffi eld’s heart- warming adaptation of the timeless classic is staged in the exquisite setting of the Victorian Royal auditorium, and is directed by Gary Sefton, who was behind the hilarious, critically acclaimed Diary Of A Nobody and Travels With My Aunt at Royal & Derngate.

Tickets are priced from £10 to £21.

Star cast promise Royal & Derngate panto audiences will have a ball this Christmas!

Cheeky comic Bobby Davro and much-loved actress and presenter Denise Welch star in Cinderella, this year’s magical Christmas pantomime at Royal & Derngate, from Friday 7 December to Sunday 6 January.

Bobby returns to Northampton by popular demand, following the rapturous reception for his hilarious performance in last year’s panto. A man of many talents – comedian, impressionist, game-show host and actor – he soared to fame in the 1980s with TV shows such as Bobby Davro on T e Box and Bobby’s Sketch Pad, before joining the BBC to make Rock with Laughter among other hugely popular shows. Renowned television actress and presenter Denise Welch will sprinkle her magic over the town as Fairy Godmother to Bobby’s Buttons. A regular panellist on ITV’s Loose Women, Denise also competed in Dancing On Ice. T e story of Cinderella wouldn’t be complete without two Ugly Sisters, and they don’t come any uglier than Darren Southworth and Andy Brady, who will be delighting audiences with their outrageous antics. With beautiful sets, lavish costumes, and real Shetland ponies to take Cinders to the ball, this year’s panto promises festive enchantment for all the family. Tickets, priced from £16 to £24
