Swishing.co.uk wins ‘Green Business of the Year’ award at the Digital Entrepreneur Awards 2012
Northampton businesswoman, Heather Stewart, founder and managing director of Swishing Limited has won the prestigious Green Business of the Year title at the 2012 Digital Entrepreneur Awards.
Te award was presented at an Oscar-style gala dinner in Manchester attended by more than 200 of the good and the great of the UK internet business sector. Te normally publicity-shy Heather accepted the award and dedicated it to the hard- working team that has seen www.swishing.
co.uk become the UK’s leading on-line clothes swapping service within 2 years of launch.
Te swishing site differentiates itself from its competitors by offering a unique facility to ‘bank’ unwanted clothes in exchange for ‘swishing credits’, the site’s very own virtual currency. Tis allows customers to immediately spend credits earned (from the clothes they send in) to acquire other items on the site (rather than waiting for someone with whom to swap). Tis unique
business model is enabling Swishing Ltd to refresh clients’ wardrobes and at the same time recycle significant volumes of clothing, reducing waste/landfill and consumption of scarce resources.
