cooling systems. At Luther, Michael DeLashmutt, associate dean for first theological degree programs, said the school is “developing a water garden that helps with recirculating water runoff from the campus,” and finding other ways to beautify and make the grounds more sustainable.

Lutheran Theological Southern Semi- nary, now part of the Lenoir-Rhyne University School of Theology, celebrates a weeklong festival Oct. 29-Nov. 4, culminating in the instal- lation of the school’s new provost, Clayton J. Schmit. Festival events, held on both the seminary’s Colum- bia, S.C., campus and the universi- ty’s main campus in Hickory, N.C., include worship, preaching and arts presentations by renowned theolo- gians, pastors, authors and artists, including William Willimon, Lloyd Ogilvie, Richard Lischer, Clayton J. Schmidt, Luke Powery, Todd Farley, Danielle Tumminio, John Trump, Vicky Henderson, Patrick Gagliano, Paul Weber, Susan McArver, Shauna Hannan and Edwin Willimington.


Newberry [S.C.] College graduate and school counselor Diane Boulware was named Teacher of the Year by Lexing- ton [S.C.] 2 District. Boulware, who serves 600 students, was also honored in 2006 as South Carolina Elementary School Counselor of the Year.

The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago held a “Many Voices, One Song” concert Oct. 7 to raise funds for its Albert “Pete” Pero Jr. Multicultural Center. To highlight intercultural and interfaith educa- tion at the school, professional and student musicians performed music from Africa, India/Asia and more.
