Founded in 1847 as a Lutheran college, Carthage highly values its affiliation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Our liberal arts curriculum includes courses that explore and celebrate religion and spirituality. Faith-oriented programs and student religious organizations offer students many opportunities to strengthen their faith as they discover how they can serve others in the Church and in the world.

Gustavus Adolphus College, St . Peter, Minn., now offers “Living in Diversity,” a faculty-led semester in Malaysia. Faculty already lead semesters in Sweden and India. The Malaysia program will be offered in even-numbered years, beginning in spring 2014. Through a partnership with Universiti Sains Malaysia on the island of Penang, students will take four courses in Malay language and culture, religions, tropical ecol- ogy and diversity. “As a country with an ethnically, linguistically and reli- giously diverse population, not to mention its biologically rich habitats, Malaysia is a veritable laboratory for the study of diversity,” said Carolyn O’Grady, director of the college’s Center for International and Cultural Education.
