PORTS MARKETING SURVEYS INC.. research reveals that, in the UK, 50% of golfers in the UK choose to wear branded sweaters and fleeces when playing golf. Within this, there is evidence that this part of the apparel market remains one of the
more conservative; traditional brands are most popular for sweaters and fleeces, and this also applies to the preference of better players with Category 1 handicaps. However, it is the sports-branded sweaters and fleeces that remain popular with
the under 30s in the UK, a stat that also applies to the same age group in Germany. In France, it remains the fashion-branded garments that are the most popular – and this applies to the country’s under 30s and category 1 golfers. Meanwhile, in Sweden, Scandinavian brands remain the most popular among all
golfers, regardless of age, gender or handicap – even if those brands are not considered major in the rest of continental Europe.
