hile the gap is closing all the time between the garments of out-and-out fashion brands and the more performance-oriented labels, it seems we are still brand
conscious. In surveying regular and avid golfers in the primary European markets, SPORTS MARKETING SURVEYS INC.. finds that German and UK golfers are the most likely to wear a sports-branded polo shirt. French golfers are more likely to wear a fashion-branded polo shirt while playing golf. Swedish golfers, it appears, are more open to experimenting; the variety of polo shirt
brands worn in Sweden was greater than in the other European Markets, with several brands not even appearing in the other three country results. Swedish Golfers were the most likely to rate brands they consider high for style as being high for technology. UK, French and German golfers were the most likely to rate fashion brands high for style but sports and specific golf brands high for technology.
