fter several years of planning, nothing could be more gratifying than the smiles of thousands of children – and their parents –

enjoying Legoland Malaysia together for the first time,” noted John Jakobsen, managing director of Legoland parks for Merlin Entertainments. “Legoland parks are all about giving our guests a full day of fun where everything is hands-on and the families create their own adventures.” At Legoland Malaysia, the adventure is spread across seven themed zones, starting at The Beginning where as well as the colourful entrance, the Big Shop welcomes guests. Miniland is the heart of every Legoland park, and at Legoland Malaysia it features Lego 1:20 scale replicas of Asian landmarks including the Petronas Towers, Taj Mahal and Singapore’s Merlion statue. Lego City hosts such attractions as the Legoland Express (train ride), Rescue Academy, Lego City Airport (plane ride), Driving School, Junior Driving School, Boating School, Shipyard (playground) and the Lego City Stage.

Imagination is where “creativity knows no bounds” and home to such attractions as the Observation Tower (by Intamin), Kids Power Tower (by Heege), Lego Studios (4D cinema), Duplo Express, Build & Test and Duplo Playtown. Based around Lego’s medieval product range, Lego Kingdom hosts The Dragon and Dragon’s Apprentice rollercoasters (by Zierer), Merlin’s Challenge (Mack Musik Express/Caterpillar), Royal Joust (galloping horse track ride), Forestman’s Hideout (playground) and Castle Stage. Lego Technic is aimed at older kids and features attractions including Project X (Mack Wild Mouse), Technic Twister (Mack Tea Cups), Aquazone Wave Racers (Zierer Jetski) and the Lego-building opportunities Lego Academy and Lego Mindstorms. Featured across the park are five shops, two sit- down restaurants (Pizza Mania and The Café) and five open-air restaurants/food stands. Plans are already in place for a Legoland Water Park and Hotel, opening in 2013 and 2014 respectively. Legoland Malaysia is a joint venture between operator Merlin Entertainments and local investors Themed Attractions and Resorts (TAR) and Iskandar Investment Bhd (IIB).
