Bahamas...


Sandals Royal Bahamian resort on Nassau has completed a $17 million upgrade that has seen the reopening of the newly-named Balmoral Tower. This contains renovated rooms, additional balconies, a new pool deck and expanded lounge area.


Dominica... A homestay programme with the island’s community


of indigenous Carib Indians has been launched. Visitors can stay in the private homes of their hosts who are residents in Kalinago tribe territory.

NEW FLIGHTS AND FERRIES Various airlines have bolstered their Caribbean services with British Airways increasing fl ights from Gatwick to Antigua, giving it a daily service to the island year-round. Caribbean Airlines has started a twice-weekly service from Gatwick to Trinidad, departing on Thursdays and Saturdays.


Air France has upped coverage of the French Caribbean with two new weekly services from Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to Guadeloupe and Martinique. It has also increased services from Paris-Orly with up to 26 fl ights a week to both Guadeloupe and Martinique. British

Inter-island ferry links have improved thanks to a new year-round daily service by L’Express des Iles between Dominica, Saint Lucia, Guadeloupe and Martinique. In the Bahamas, the Bahamas Express service has speeded up thanks to a new express ferry on the Fort Lauderdale-Grand Bahama Island route, cutting journey times to two-and-a-half hours.
