Caribbean Challenge Come and discover the Statia morning glory,
a vine with lilac coloured fl owers. The rarest plant in the Dutch kingdom, it is endemic to St. Eustatius and was thought to be extinct until recently. This amazing plant grows only in the island’s northern hills; some say it holds magical properties of the island’s history.

t. Eustatius, fondly called Statia, is a quiet haven for visitors wanting to explore and experience the Caribbean the way it used to be. Undiscovered and relatively unknown, one will fi nd this fascinating tiny island a pleasure to explore. Upper Town Oranjestad is littered with a unique variety of historical sites and monuments dating back to the 1700s. These include a colourful and charming collection of well-preserved typical Statian houses with their pretty gingerbread trimmings.
