Demonstrated as a 350 tonne IntElect Multi 350-1700h/250v model, Multi series machines incorpo- rate extended ejector travel and support the installation of of a rotary turntable with motor drive control integrated into the standard NC 5 Plus controller. Multi machines also feature a wider tiebar spacing to


enable them to accommodate the larger moulds used in multi-component applications; the 350 model features a spacing of 830mm by 830mm. Core pulling is integrated into the machine and uses the company’s ActiveDrive hydraulic pump technology. The 350 tonne model is the first introduction to the


Multi product line-up; Sumitomo (SHI) Demag says it will be joined by a 220 tonne version shortly. The company’s display also includes a hydraulic


Systec machine and El-Exis SP model, both configured running variants of the in-mould labelling (IML) processing technology. The Systec application will be production of a


technical display part using two IML foils – one for function and one for decoration. The 2mm thick PMMA mouldings are produced on a Systec 210-430 machine. During the process a transparent conductive film from PolyIC is applied to the back-face of the display to provide functional capacitive controls while a decorative foil from Leonhard Kurz is placed on the front-face. The functional film is placed into the mould by a


six-axis robot and is fixed by vacuum; the decorative foil is installed using a Kurz feed system mounted above the mould. The frame also incorporates the contacts required for electrical connection of the display. The El-Exis SP 250-1600 machine will be running a


more conventional packaging IML application. An IML system jointly developed by Sepro-Robotique and Machines Pagès will place the labels into a two cavity mould producing 1-litre buckets on a cycle of less than 5s. The main focus of the Wittmann Battenfeld (Hall B2,


Stand 1204) display will be its CellMould system for production of lightweight foamed parts, which the company will be running on two moulding machine. The first demonstration will run on a MacroPower XL550 machine and will be producing a foamed ABS housing on a tandem mould. The production system will include a nitrogen gas generator and a Wittmann W843 beam robot automation. The second CellMould system will be producing a


foamed desk telephone cover using the BF-Mold heat-cool mould technology to achieve a high gloss piano black surface. It will run on an HM series machine. Other exhibits include multi-component production of a thermoplastics and LSR combination
