grades for high temperature applications and medical grade Thermolast M products. The V series TPEs are intended for automotive and
industrial applications requiring resistance to tempera- tures up to 140˚C. Features include good compression set performance, with the latest developments providing an improved bond to PA. Thermolast M grades have been developed for medical and pharmaceutical applications requiring good bonding to PA and ABS. Lightweight technology will form the centrepiece of
the KraussMaffei display at Fakuma (Hall A7, Stand 7303), where the company will demonstrate a 450 tonne version of its recently introduced GX machine line producing a physically-foamed automotive component. The CellForm production system will be moulding a
telephone cradle using the Mucell microcellular moulding technology developed by Trexel. The produc- tion cell also includes an integrated LRX250 beam robot, automatic part weight monitoring and vision system. The dual-platen GX machine design is designed for
precision and energy efficiency. The company claims the injection system provides a shot weight consistency of ±0.1% in this application while the smooth running clamp reduces traction resistance by up to 80%. Best known for its vertical presses for processing of
traditional rubber materials, Austria’s Maplan (Hall A7, Stand 7403) will be showing two special vertical machines for processing of TPEs and a horizontal injection machine for moulding liquid silicone rubber (LSR) at Fakuma. The TPE machines have been developed to meet the growing demand for TPE processing systems from its traditional customer base in areas such as automotive, according to the company.
