Premium aesthetic needles and cannulas

A

lthough there has been limited discussion in the past about needles, the

importance of using high-quality specialty needles and cannulas, and the effects they have on the overall patient experience, has increased over the last few years. Using the right needles and cannulas result in more satisfied patients, more comfortable injection techniques for practitioners and overall better aesthetic results.

Botulinum toxin injections Practitioners continue to use the traditional insulin syringes with a fixed needle, while not always being aware of the positive alternatives of using micro-needles in combination with a separate syringe. An insulin syringe with a fixed needle is cumbersome to fill with botulinum toxin, and when the needle touches the glass vial or hits a bone during injection the needle can be considered blunt, thus the need to dispose of the whole syringe.

lower than a regular 30 G needle.

Alternatively, a 33 G needle

available from TSK has a penetration force that is 45% lower than a regular 30 G needle, and therefore significantly reduces the patient's discomfort experienced during injection.

TSK advises the use of 32 G and

The sharp micro-needle can be attached before injection and when necessary, needles can be changed during the procedure without having to dispose the syringe.

than botulinum toxin. Very high pressure is generated into the hub of the needle during injection, risking the needle to 'pop-off'. The high pressure also causes the practitioner to lose accuracy and tactile sensitivity. TSK has introduced an ULTRA Thin Wall needle with a larger inner diameter, resulting in a decrease of 35% in extrusion force compared with a regular needle. The hub material of the TSK PRC and threaded HPC type hubs have been changed from polypropylene to a very rigid polymer that does not flex. It has proven to have the best-in-class fixation properties with all luer-lock syringes.

The first generation of cannulas has been successfully introduced and with input from practitioners around the world, we have been able to design
