Pushing to be the best
Director of Bronze Couture, Kassy Lucas, talks to IB about work, family and her favourite things.
I ended up in the beauty industry because…As a teenager I suffered badly with Acne and it was that that made me want to study beauty. I really wanted to help others with skin problems like me. Once I started studying, I realised I had a massive interest in how products were formulated and was very interested in what ingredients were used and how they affected the skin.
If I wasn’t in the beauty industry I would…I actually find it hard to vision myself working in any other industry but I always remember as a child wanting to be a vet. I loved animals and remember bringing home stray cats, dogs and injured crows from school. I was lucky we had a large garden to home all these ‘pets’.
The best thing about my job is… The amazing satisfaction from providing customers and business owners with the perfect product. As a salon owner myself, I know how great it is to find a product you can really work with and I’m delighted to be able to supply my fellow salon owners with such a product.
An average day for me is… Honestly I do not have an average day. I work within the business in all areas. I work on creating new products, doing salon visits, emails, checking in on our stockists and I still like to work the odd day in salon doing treatments when the time allows.
My ideal weekend would be… Spending time with my family. I have an amazing, supportive partner and two beautiful little boys. It is great to

get away to a hotel and switch off my emails and just be together without any distractions. Family time is very important to me.
My favourite book is…I love all Rhonda Byrne’s books. The Secret and The Power are very motivational.
My favourite film is…Dirty Dancing. I have watched it so many times.
The most famous person I have met is…I met Sarah Jessica Parker a few years ago when I worked in Brown Thomas. I was very star struck. She is really beautiful in person.
My favourite part of the world is… I recently went on a family holiday to Egypt and I must say it is my favourite place so far.
I could not live without…My family. They are my drive to succeed and to be the best person I can be.
My favourite beauty treatment is… I do long for a good massage, there’s nothing like it to de-stress. I also love getting my eyebrows down.
When growing up my role model was…My parents. They worked hard and achieved any goals they had whilst showing me that I could do the same. They taught me to be the person I am today and some amazing family values.
I would like to be remembered as…As a great mother and business woman who always pushed herself to be the best she can be.
