What are nail veneers?

Although all manufacturers state that their products differ, essentially nail veneers or wraps are solid films with adhesive backs that, when activated by heat, adhere to the natural nail plate or to enhancements, depending on the product.

As far as a heat source goes, some brands recommend the use of a specific nail heat source similar to a hairdryer, whilst others advise the use of a heat lamp.

Some veneers come pre-cut, some are just for tips, whilst some require you to trim the veneer to your client’s nail size; they are also suitable for both fingernails and toenails. Through heating, the veneers become pliable and therefore can be fitted to the nails and smoothed into

place. The veneers require no drying time, so essentially the service only takes as long as a regular polish service. To remove, the nails are heated gently which then makes the veneer pliable again and easily peelable.

Once applied the veneers should not peel or chip and no topcoat is required although some nail techs like to add a Gel or acrylic overlay to further enhance the veneer’s wear as well as increase revenue.

Nail companies are offering everything from hot metallic and animal print to some of the most intricate designs that would be difficult to replicate freehand, giving the client much more choice and the ability to match their nails to their outfit or personality.

Add glamour to fingers and toes with Nail FX 3D wraps. They are ultra thin, easy to apply and no heat is required. They are available in 18 funky shades with 20 nail wraps per sheet.

Minx nail veneers are fashionable, dramatic nail coatings that cause no damage to the natural nail and last up to two weeks on hands and up to six weeks on toes. Made of flexible film, Minx give women completely customised nails that can feature the exact pattern and colours of their newest dress, their favourite shoes and even their favourite photos. Minx requires no drying time, meaning no spills, smudges or chips. Heat gives Minx the conformability to fit over the compound curve of a nail, and seals the film onto the nail plate. The patent-pending proprietary material that Minx is made of can easily be removed with heat.
