2012 SWRE Meeting Held in Vernon

Several hundred SWRE members and guests attended the co-op’s 2012 Annual Meeting held on Thursday, August 9 in Vernon.

The seven-member band from

Western Trail Cowboy Church south of Vernon captivated the crowd with a variety of songs that included gospel and country music.

SWRE Board President Dan White noted that 2012 marks 75 years of SWRE service and he discussed the beginning of the cooperative in 1937.

SWRE CEO Mike Hagy introduced SWRE employees and staff, and spoke about challenges that loom on the hori- zon for all power utility companies (See the CEO’s column on Page Two). Bailey Whitman, a senior at Vernon High School, and Mikayla Balderas, se- nior at Tipton High School, shared their experiences as 2012 Youth Tour win- ners. They thanked SWRE members for providing them with the experience of visiting Washington, D.C. Co-op attorney Loyd Benson led a

brief business meeting. High point of the Annual Meeting, as always, was a prize drawing. One hundred four prizes were given away at the event, including 48 energy certificates, many business gift cards, and numerous items that were donated by SWRE’s vendor compa- nies and agencies.

The drawing ended with selection of $250 and $500 energy certificate winners (See a complete list of prize winners on Page Three).
