2012 Brodak Fly-In

Randall Holcroft has powered his T-Rex (above left) with a T-60. Keith Sandberg’s Saito 62-powered P-47 Thunderbolt (above right) looks great as it completes the circle. Keith’s P-47 performs a wingover (below left). Tom Morris

flies his nicely trimmed Electric Cavalier (below center). Despite the odd look of this flying machine (below right), the Dixie Wiz Kids won second place in the Junkyard Wars competition with this good-flying, low-aspect-ratio design.

Mike Cooper is flying his PA-51-powered Stiletto (above left), in Precision Expert. Robert Pardue’s Chester Jeep (above center) flew well in Fun Scale. Prolific C/L designer Jack Sheeks and wife Shirley (above right) were commissioned to decide appearance points for the Junkyard Wars airplanes. Team Absurd thoughtfully chose team member Samantha to present their plane

to the judges. It’s dusk Friday evening and goblins come out to play. Not really, it’s just Dan Banjock and friends (below left) out to see if they can fly his DynaJet-powered C/L plane. Mike Palko directs the pressure from a strong- armed tire pumper while Ted Heinritz holds. Yes, does it ever fly (below right)! Heat insulation for the fuselage is absolutely necessary!
