AUTUMN WINTER 2012

An instant collectors’ item

Christopher Ward’s most complicated watch to date and one that will make an entirely new level of sophistication accessible to more people than ever due to its excellent value. That is how the C900 Single Pusher Chronograph is being described by the company. This beautifully understated, classic-looking chronograph is powered by its own bespoke monopusher movement. It has taken German watchmaker Johannes Jahnke three years to develop the movement following his discovery in 2009 of a prototype chronograph based on the celebrated Unitas 6497 calibre. The 28-year-old engineer worked with legendary Swiss watchmaker Jean Fillon, who is 87, to produce the marvellous technology that will fascinate and delight true horophiles.

The JJ02 calibre – JJ01 is found in CW’s innovative C9 Harrison Jumping Hour – has been extensively reworked with a new main plate, bridges, winding mechanism, centre, second wheels, and a swan neck adjustment system. The highly legible dial carries a continuous seconds sub-dial and a 30-minute totaliser. All functions are controlled through the single pusher and the large exhibition back allows the mechanism to be admired in all its glory.

The C900 SP will be an instant collectors’ item as only 250 examples, at £2450, will be made available worldwide. See Simon de Burton's article on the new C900 on page 8.
