The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is a Statutory Board responsible for the development and implementation of all land-based projects in the Republic of Singapore.
LTA manages the construction of new Rapid Transit System (RTS) projects, as well as upgrading of existing rail lines. Besides RTS projects, LTA also enhances the road network and provides motorists with a greater choice of travel routes by carrying out projects to widen, upgrade and build new roads. In addition, it manages and maintains road structures and facilities so that they are operational at all times.
LTA is at an exciting juncture with new projects ahead and ongoing planning for how land transportation will evolve to meet the needs of Singaporeans in the future. We are currently looking for suitably qualifi ed and experienced individuals to join us.
SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER / PROJECT MANAGER (TUNNELLING)
You will be part of the Project teams managing the construction of Downtown Line Stage 3 (DTL 3) tunnels for the new MRT railway line. For Tunnelling Professionals with the drive and enthusiasm to embrace new challenges, here is the opportunity to play a key part in the operational control of this 42km-long MRT tunnel construction adopting Earth Pressure Balance Machines.
Requirements: • Preferably a recognised Degree in Civil Engineering • 5 years of experience in railway construction of which 3 years are in managing tunnel construction • Self-motivated, ability to multi-task and willingness to oversee other aspects of railway works • Proven track record in railway construction management/underground construction and tunnelling works
• Resourceful, analytical and able to thrive in a demanding work environment with extended working hours
• Those with very good relevant years of experience will be considered for senior positions
SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER / EXECUTIVE PROJECT ENGINEER (CIVIL)
You will play a lead role in managing contractors in the construction of underground MRT stations namely the Downtown Line, Thomson Line and enhancement to Existing Lines. You will be mainly involved in the management of contractors for station construction in elevated or underground constructions. You will be responsible for the safety, quality, progress and environmental impact of the contractors’ works. You will be involved in planning and managing the risks and cashfl ows of various contracts as well as the issuance of instructions and assessment of variations/payments/claims. You are also required to liaise with various parties, such as other project teams, other contractors, designers, architects, stakeholders and appointed Railway Operator to ensure that the projects are well co-ordinated.
Requirements: • A recognised Degree in Civil Engineering • At least 4 years of relevant experience in large-scale infrastructure projects • Good appreciation of the constraints and interface requirements of civil works • Strong project management and leadership skills with proven track record • Good communication and presentation skills • Team player who is analytical, resourceful and results-oriented • Experience in the construction of Civil Defence shelters and underground MRT stations will be an advantage
• Those with very good relevant years of experience will be considered for senior positions SIGNAL ENGINEERS
We are currently building the Downtown Line and upgrading our relay based signalling system to a radio based on Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) moving block system and a Computer-Based Interlocking system. The Downtown Line consists of 35 stations with a total route length of 40km while the upgrading project covers the existing North-South and East-West Lines. It is on a tight time schedule and comprises 53 stations and a route length of 94km. This is a very challenging project as it is expected to be carried out without disrupting the revenue service. In addition, we are also expanding our rail network.
You will review and approve design submissions from contractor and carry out testing and commissioning of the new system to ensure that the delivered system satisfi es all the system requirements. You will be involved in the close monitoring of signalling and train control installation work on site at stations/ track during traffi c and engineering hours as well as providing technical liaison with system-wide equipment suppliers to develop interface documentation and resolving interfacing issues.
Requirements: • Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering • At least 10 years of experience in design, testing and commissioning of signalling system with at least 3 years in Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) system
• Experience in Automatic Train Control (ATC) system migration and a good knowledge of radio based CBTC system will be an advantage

General Manager Working in partnership with Lothian Buses plc as the designated operator for the tramway in Edinburgh, the project is at a pivotal point as it moves toward operation. Testing and commissioning is now underway, and as a result, the scoping and leadership of the full operational service is now required. We are looking for an experienced senior manager with light or heavy rail experience who can work across the disciplines of safety and standards, operations, engineering, customer service and support to lead the tram team into operation. The successful candidate will have the ability and desire to lead this project and deliver a successful operation, bringing innovation and commercial acumen along with proven leadership and interpersonal skills. Working in collaboration with the Executive Directors of Lothian Buses plc and the project stakeholders, particularly The City of Edinburgh Council, you will be responsible for the set-up and leadership of the tram team; including safety, employment, operational practises and the management of stakeholder relationships.
