Beaches W
ithout question, some of California’s most stunning coastline lies within the borders of Dana Point. But these shores aren’t just for looks. From Capistrano Beach and Doheny State Beach
in the south up to Dana Strand Beach and Salt Creek Beach in the north, the sands off this coastal community serve as an outdoor playground, boating haven and famous surf spot. Families love Baby Beach for its ease of access, ample parking and child-friendly waters. Experienced short- boarders know the best place to get in a killer session is at Salt Creek, and longboarders revel in the waters of Doheny. The shore at Dana Point

Harbor acts as a launching point for recreational activities like stand-up paddling, outrigger canoeing and jet skiing not to mention seafaring adventures aboard sail and power boats. Behind the Ocean Institute is one of the county’s Marine Protected Areas, where explorers can find sea crea- tures galore. Just be sure to respect the ocean and those who call it home by observing them in their habitat without disturbing them. Dana Point’s beaches are a combination of county, state and the private
