A lobby and outdoor area, complete
with grills and day rooms for recreation, allow for mingling with other soldiers. Te soldiers can meet with counselors
and the unit leadership in the Adminis- trative Services facility. Nancy Carlisle, a civilian who works with the soldiers there, says being collocated “makes it more effi- cient and easier to provide care for sol- diers.” Carlisle, who has been with the unit for more than four years, says it is very rewarding to show soldiers programs they didn’t know they qualify for. “I have seen some in the beginning who
are severely injured and feel that their career is over and they are not going to be able to do anything. Ten they get to stay in the Army, some even deploying again,” she recalls. She says many of them are paying it forward by helping the newly injured.
“Tey can say, ‘Look at me. I’m
still serving and jumping out of airplanes and deploying.”’ C
