hil Cowley was fresh out of West Point when he first spent time at Fort Benning. He attended Air-


borne and Ranger Schools, and his current office is just blocks from Olson Hall, where he once lived. The former Army officer has come a


long way since then—if not in distance, then in responsibility. He now directs the multi-million-dollar upgrade of Fort Ben- ning’s housing for Clark Realty Capital. Cowley has a special affinity for the area


since he met his wife, Carrie, here. When he left the service in 2000, they stayed here while she got her veterinary degree from Auburn University. The couple then left Columbus for Boston, where Phil attended Harvard University full time and received his MBA. Upon graduation, he went to work for Clark Realty Capital in California and has been with the company ever since. Te opportunity to return to Columbus


with Clark arose in 2004. “It was an easy discussion,” he recalls of the talk with his wife. “Do you want to go home?” They did and have been here ever since. As the proj- ect director, Cowley oversees the develop- ment, financial aspects and health of the
