The AdderLink Infinity Dual uses two DVI ports to provide double the capacity, either for dual head set-ups or for very large dual link screens
setup multiple workstations in a single area using a single click. This has great application in studio gallery scenarios where at different times of the day, different teams may be at work. For example, a news gallery
delivering control for a prime time programme will have a much larger team at work than the same gallery controlling news updates through the night. At night, a smaller team needs access to many of the same systems, but ideally local to the user. Presets deliver this customisation instantly and intuitively. The ability to connect any
workstation to any processor is the great strength of the system, because it creates a new flexibility in the way operations can be organised, giving the options to the people rather than being dominated by the technology. In a post production facility,
one of the key challenges lies in moving content from one device to another. With this solution the rooms could be set up, as now, to be ergonomically right for colour correction, editing, compositing, client review and so on, but rather than moving large amounts of data from machine to machine as the project progresses, you hand control of the same computer from room to room, select the appropriate software and start work immediately. Through the channel system a supervisor can check on the progress of a project simply by looking at what is happening in each room. Anyone in a collaborative workflow can get reassurance from a colleague that a graphic or effect is going to work by asking someone to take over their computer for a moment to look at it, or show it in a projection room. Confidential projects can be loaded onto specific computers or storage networks but can still be accessed by any artist who needs to work on it. Another benefit of using the AdderLink Infinity system is that projects can be kept secret by keeping them on discrete computers, still making them available in any area as necessary.
The unique high speed KVM over IP technology developed
for the AdderLink Infinity and Infinity Dual was initially conceived to solve the practical problems of keeping working areas clear, calm and quiet. Because the solution is highly flexible and pixel perfect, even
for very high resolution displays and with very low latency, the obvious benefits are in opening up new workflow configurations which make broadcast centres even more productive and flexible.
