BBC Worldwide departure
JANA BENNETT, president of Worldwide Networks and the Global BBC iPlayer, has decided to leave BBC Worldwide in late autumn following implementation of a major reorganisation of the company, as BBC Worldwide reconfigures the business from divisional to geographic lines. As a result, P&L ownership will move from the existing global divisions to a number of market and country facing business units. Since becoming president of Worldwide Networks, Bennett has overseen the channels business, which is the biggest revenue generator for BBC Worldwide.
GRAHAM SHARPhas been hired as Grass Valley’s new senior vice president of Corporate Development. Sharp will be responsible for the overarching corporate strategy, M&A activity, strategic alliances, and various strategic projects. He will report directly to Alain Andreoli, president and CEO of Grass Valley. With more than 25 years of executive management experience in the media industry, Sharp was most recently director of Media Asset Capital and interim president and CEO of Xtranormal.

Argosy has promoted Josh Simons to its Board of Directors with responsibility for all technical matters including product reviews and selection. Simons has been with Argosy since April 1998. Stephen Lighthill has been elected to serve as president of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC). The vote was made by the newly elected Board of Governors who also elected ASC Officers, Vice Presidents Richard Crudo, Daryn Okada and Kees Van Oostrum; Treasurer Victor J Kemper; Secretary Fred Goodich; and Sergeant-at-Arms Steven Fierberg.
David Barrett, Loft London
Axon Digital Design has strengthened its European sales team with the appointment of Adrian Richmond. Recruited as UK Area Sales Manager, Richmond reports to Bill Leadbetter, director of Sales at Axon UK. Richmond started his broadcast career as a sound engineer at the BBC where he specialised in major outside broadcast projects. Broadcast Electronics (BE) has appointed Bob Demuthas sales manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Demuth will report to Tom Beck, BE director, Sales and RF Product Management.

Product manager, defining product features for FLEXXITY to address the requirements of post houses, archive facilities, and production companies involved in digital workflows. Front Porch Digital has announced three new appointments to its international staff. Technicolor Creative Services has appointed Richard Welsh as head of Operations for Digital Cinema UK. Reporting to Tom Cotton, vice president, Welsh will lead and manage the Digital Cinema Operations in the UK.
