GET SOCIAL AND GET RECONNECTED By: Jenny Walter
US Speedskating is excited to an-
nounce the formation of our Alumni Committee and our US Speedskating Alumni Facebook Page. USS Board Mem- ber, Susan Sandvig-Shobe, will chair this committee. The main goal of this initia- tive is to reconnect with all of our incred- ible alumni. All alumni, no matter how speedskating has been a part of your life, are encouraged to join. The purpose of this committee is to:
1. Create Athlete and Alumni Relations recognize the diversity of athletes and provide programs to gain loyalty and life-long relationships with US Speedskating.
2. Increase Alumni Involvement promote communication of US Speedskating happenings to alumni and friends in an effort to increase alumni and friends participation.
3. Preserve History Create relationships, which enhance US Speedskating’s image and builds on its traditions.
The first thing you can do to get back
involved is send or update your contact information by emailing Susan Sand- vig-Shobe (
sandvigshobe@aol.com) or Jenny Walter (jwalter@usspeedskating. org). Once you have sent or updated your contact information you can look forward to the latest and greatest in US Speed- skating news, see information regarding upcoming events and catch up with your old teammates. You can also help us ex- pand and strengthen the alumni circle by spreading the word. There are two ways you can help:
1. You can help us get connected to
alumni that are not current members of US Speedskating. You can do this by talking to your friends and old speeds-
kating buddies about all of the exciting things going on at US Speedskating and what they are missing out on by not stay- ing connected with us. Once they have expressed interest in engaging with US Speedskating tell them to email Jenny Walter:
jwalter@usspeedskating.org.
2. You can help us spread the word
about our Alumni Group on Facebook. If you are active on Facebook you can invite your friends and old speedskating bud- dies to join the official US Speedskating Alumni Group. This will be a great place to reconnect with those friends that you have lost touch with over the years. Any help that you are willing to provide
