Many retailers on Footwear Today’s Best Sellers panel reported poor trading conditions in April 2012. Andrew Marshall from Strolling4Shoes, said: “Weather in Cumbria was cold and wet every day The Easter weekend didn’t happen and we actually had snow capped fells on the last weekend of April. We were also up against some huge figures from last year when the weather was fantastic. Sales figures are quite difficult to take much from because the sales have been predominantly on Ladies shoes and darker colours. Sandals have been less than 20% of the sales which for April is extremely poor. The only good thing to come out of this weather we won’t have many spring shoes in the sale.”
