GETTING THERE Air Mauritius and British Airways both fl y non-stop from the UK to Mauritius and Emirates, Selling Long Haul’s Long Haul Airline of the Year 2011, offers a good fl ight connection via Dubai. Return economy fares start from approximately £715 per person. Air Mauritius, the Indian Ocean’s Best Airline’ at the World Travel Awards 2011, operates up to four non-stop fl ights a week from Heathrow by Airbus A340, with regional connections from various UK and Ireland airports. There are also daily fl ights via Paris with code share partner Air France. British Airways operates a


direct service from Gatwick to Mauritius on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, having changed its return fl ights to 12 hours later in November 2011 to maximise holidaymakers’ time in the sun. Emirates operates 105 fl ights


weekly from six UK airports to Dubai (Heathrow, Gatwick,

Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle and Glasgow from June 1, 2012) with 11 onward fl ights a week to Mauritius. The Airbus A380 fl ies on some daily services from Heathrow and Manchester to Dubai.


GETTING AROUND The stress-free way to explore this island is one chunk at a time. Mauritius is a decent size for a tropical island and although a major highway
