World leaders


The world’s best hotels are found on Mauritius as the ‘Oscars of the travel industry’ continue to show. Beachcomber’s Trou Aux Biches scooped the award for the ‘World’s Leading Beach Destination’ at the World Travel Awards 2011. In the Indian Ocean awards, Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa won the ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Hotel’ and Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa the ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Resort’ as well as leading spa resort in the Mauritius awards. Le Meridien Ile Maurice won Mauritius’ leading hotel for the third time, Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa won leading resort, Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort scooped leading Golf Resort, again.


Conde Nast Traveller’s Gold List 2012 featured Le Touessrok as best for leisure facilities, The Oberoi Mauritius as best for service and the Maritim Hotel was awarded Virgin Holidays’ silver award for ‘Best Hotel in the Indian Ocean’ in November 2011.
