and mud are delivered by Banyan Tree trained therapists at the new Angsana Spa. Thali treatments, a French marine-based cosmetology combined with thalassotherapy, are offered at the new Sea Spa at Long Beach. Romantic treatments à deaux
are aplenty, in couples’ rooms or al fresco in pavilions overlooking the sea. The Seven Colours Spa ‘Millesime Collection’ at Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort offers wedding and honeymooners a couples’ massage in the Honeymoon Suite followed by fl oral bath with candles and the Sanctuary Spa at The Residence has a new signature Ylang Ylang Massage for two.
In line with Spa Finder 2012’s
trend, Mauritian spas have become a family affair. 100% natural (and edible) treatments at the new Shanti Maurice peak season ‘Pop Up Spa’ include a ‘Choco Boo’ exfoliation and massage for hands and feet with chocolate soak and mask. The Residence’s Sanctuary Spa has body massages, Haute Beauté facials for teens, mini- manicures, mini-pedicures and hair braiding. One&Only Le Saint Géran has a ‘Get Muddy’ scalp treatment.
With year-round sunshine, a gentle sea and kids’ clubs everywhere, Mauritius is perfect for families. The Mauritians adore children and give families a genuinely warm welcome.

FOR THOSE who fancy some exploring, there’s plenty for families to see and do beyond Mauritius’ beautiful beaches. Convenient overnight fl ights and only a three- to four-hour time difference, mean children will easily shake off any jet lag. Mauritius doesn’t have any dangerous snakes or insects and no malaria, and the lagoon is almost encircled by the protective arms of a coral reef. Family- friendly beaches include the calm, shallow beaches of Flic en Flac on the west coast, ideal for young children, the white-sands of Belle Mare Plage in the east, Pereybère cove in the north and in the southeast, underwater scenery at Blue Bay.

Casela Nature & Leisure Park is the place to spot African zebra, giraffe and ostrich on a mini-safari across the savannah, take a thrilling walk with the King of the Jungle on a Lion Encounter or a new tree-top zipline adventure. A catamaran trip to see dolphins at Tamarin is also a family must. Kids love the animal breeding
