Team USA dominated the biggest international field ever assembled for USA vs. the World to sweep all six races at the 13th edition of the event at the Penn Relays.
With Americans setting meet records in the Visa Women’s 4x100m and Nike Women’s 4x400m relay and a historic first win for the U.S. men in the Nike Men’s Distance Medley Relay, Team USA made its strongest statement in the history of USA vs. the World. More than 49,000 fans attended the competition at Franklin Field.
Running 1-2 through much of the final 1,600m leg of the men’s distance medley relay, Bernard Lagat and Leo Manzano battled until the end. It was Manzano grabbing the historic win for the USA Blue team, helping to seal the American sweep.
Allyson Felix ran legs on both record-setting 4x100m and 4x400m relays. A dominant performance for each relay team, Sanya Richards-Ross anchored the women’s 4x400m to win the race by more than five seconds. Carmelita Jeter anchored the winning 4x100m that set a meet record for the second straight year.
Team USA also grabbed wins in the BMW Men’s 4x100m, Visa Men’s 4x400m and BMW Women’s Sprint Medley.
