BELGIAN COMPANY GSF provided production technology at the regional launch of the new Porsche 911 in Brussels, choosing a DiGiCo SD9 console for the event.
“The new 911 is one of the best cars in the world, with one of the best specs on the market. Therefore it deserved one of the best audio consoles on the market, which is why we chose to use our SD9,” said GSF co-owner Sammy Freh.
One subtle customisation to the SD9’s specification was its renaming – for these events only – as the SD911. “I put a Porsche sticker on the
176 rack units of processing power.
And we still call it Compact.

back of the console, which fit perfectly with the logo of the SD9,” said Freh. “Our console became the SD911! The events have been amazing, the client is very happy and we have been asked to book the same crew and equipment for the show of the new Porsche Boxter.” www.digico.org

FIVE DPA D:FINE omnidirectional headset mics have been added to Vienna’s Burgtheater microphone collection, which includes more than 70 other DPA mics. The d:fines were purchased from DPA’s Austrian distributor, Studer Austria. An expanded range of the headset mics were launched at this year’s Prolight + Sound, along with the new d:facto vocal mic and d:vote range – an upgrade to DPA’s 4099 series of instrument mics. In Vienna, the d:fines have recently been used for the political discussion panel Debating Europe. “There are certain things which were not perfect when working with our older headsets,” said David Muellner, head of the Burgtheater’s sound department. “The sound was always good, but often the width of an actor’s or politician’s neck varied, so we had to adjust the headband mount, which took time and effort – something you don’t have when the prime minister is standing in front of you!” www.dpamicrophones.com
