PSNEuropecompiles this month’s list of hot new products FUNKTION-ONE

F1201 LOUDSPEAKER

What is it? The newest addition to Funktion-One’s compact loudspeaker range, positioned between the F101 and Resolution 1.

Details: The F1201 enclosure brings Funktion-One’s low-distortion approach to driver design and crossover point

optimisation to the 12” and 1” format. In contrast to the usual harshness of this driver combination, the F1201 is said to offer excellent clarity and definition with robust bass for involving musical experiences. The 90° by 40° high-frequency horn can be easily rotated through 90° for horizontal or vertical deployment.

The F1201 works as a standalone loudspeaker for many diverse applications.

And another thing… According to Funktion- One, the new unit is suited for use with F118, F218, Infrabass 218 and F121 bass enclosures where extra bass reinforcement is desired. www.funktion-one.com

CARTEC EQ-PRE-2A

second amplifier is used to provide the microphone gain, but this unit can also be used with line level by engaging the LINE switch, so it’s flexible for tracking.

What is it? A 2U 19” rackmount stereo discrete op-amp

microphone/line preamp, with full ‘Pultec’-style EQ.

Details: The EQ-Pre-2A is a stereo preamp and EQ using the full equaliser circuit and components from Cartec’s valve EQP-1A, but with solid-state discrete op-amps as used in the later acclaimed Pultec units. A

T&M SYSTEMS

XS4, XS6

What is it? Piano-gloss finish versions of t&m’s XS4 and XS6 compact, multipurpose loudspeakers.

Details: The XS4 loudspeaker handles 40W RMS and utilises a 1” dome and 4” mid/bass driver, coupled via a complex crossover with integrated dynamic protection circuit for driver protection. The slightly larger XS6 offers the same configuration but with a 6” mid bass unit, which extends low frequency and increases power handling to 100W

RMS. Both systems use NL4 Speakon connectors and are offered as standard with a black or white textured paint finish. The textured paint models will continue and are now joined by the new piano-gloss finish versions, also available in black or white as standard.

And another thing... t&m will supply XS4 and XS6 loudspeakers with the high gloss finish in other RAL colours to order, with no minimum quantity. www.t-m-systems.com

All gain and EQ controls are on rotary switches. The output transformer windings can be switched to turn this into a mid/side decoder (if using M/S mic technique, for instance, it will output Left and Right signals), or encoder for further MS processing in the signal chain.

And another thing… The rear panel features a third XLR which provides a transformer balanced Auxillary output that can be panned between channels 1 and 2 using the ‘Blend’ pot on the front. www.cartecaudio.com

EIDOS 265 LA

What is it? The most compact array manufactured by the Italian company.

Details: The latest version of the compact VLA is described by Outline as “a little big array”. The Eidos 265 LA uses two 6.5” loudspeakers and a compression driver with a 2.5” diaphragm (1.4” throat) loaded with a (100° horizontal dispersion) waveguide. Up to 16 cabinets can be installed in a vertical line array, or set-ups including Flysub 15 subwoofers. However, the

TIMAX TIMAX TRACKER TOURING

What is it? A new Touring Version TiMax Tracker configuration.

Details: The TiMax performer-tracking system follows actors, presenters, attraction visitors and conference delegates to control audio localisation, playback, lighting and media servers. The new Touring Version features fully ruggedised and

DS8000

What is it?A redesign of XTA’s DS800 mic/line distribution system for the broadcast and touring markets.

Details:The DS8000 has two new key features: an outside-broadcast split function tailored to the demands of the broadcast industry, featuring two rear switches making stereo 16-way splits easy; and a dual redundant power supply

XTA

weatherproofed TT Sensors and a dedicated Power over Ethernet Combiner Hub which allows quick and simple installation cabling.

And another thing... The new configuration has recently been purchased by German event production company Neumann & Muller. www.outboard.co.uk

dispersion characteristics of the Eidos 265 LA also enable just a few elements to be used with wide splay angles (up to 10° between elements).

For filtering the signals fed to the LF and HF sections, the unit has an on-board passive crossover manufactured with top- grade components (coils with very low resistance and metallised polypropylene capacitors). Further processing is done by the DSP in the Outline T5 power amplifier to optimise electro-acoustic performance

and ensure ample safety margins for utmost reliability.

And another thing… A plug-and-play package is also available, consisting of eight Eidos 265 LA, two Flysub 15 subwoofers and two T5-DSP amps. www.outline.it

system that is simple to enable when two DS8000 units are paired together. In addition, the system incorporates remote-controlled 48V phantom power with lockout ‘safe’ functions to prevent tampering. Subtle panel lighting is provided for dark back stage environments and there is the option of adding an ADC card that provides AES3 outputs for integration into digital systems.

The DS8000 is a 2U, 8-inputto 32-output mic/line distribution system with 16 transformer balanced isolated outputs and 16 electronically balanced outputs fitted as standard.

And another thing... The system features mic preamps designed by award-winning R&D manager Alex Cooper. www.xta.co.uk
