Core to Greggs’ responsibility programme is the Greggs Foundation, a registered charity established in 1987 by the company’s founder Ian Gregg, who believed that successful organisations have a duty to do positive things with part of their profits and help people living in disadvantaged areas.
Funded by Greggs plc, its staff (via a Give As You Earn scheme), donations from major shareholders and investors, as well as staff fundraising activities, the Foundation has raised more than £10M since it started. The money helps to support

By the end of 2011, Greggs Breakfast Clubs were operating in 180 schools across the UK, providing 8,000 children with a free, healthy breakfast every day. But it is in the area of energy efficiency that Greggs has recently been mak- ing inroads. The bakery chain recently became the first European retailer to light the sales area of one of its stores entirely with LED light sources.
