Sector Showcase SmartMetals makes heavy displays movable
Netherlands-based SmartMetals is offering a mounting solution that enables heavy displays to be moved around multiple rooms in a venue, such as for event and exhibition purposes. Developed as a strong and durable
motorised trolley to mount heavy touchscreens up to 70in wide, the 062.7200 (silver-grey) and 062.7205 (black) meet the requirement for a mount that supports both movement and weight. The company says the solution is predominantly used with interactive displays in educational and business establishments; it is part of SmartMetals’ economy range because its quality is said to outweigh the price. The mount is a versatile solution for
venues that rely on the display being constantly active. Making a heavy screen movable can pay dividends not only in health and safety benefits, but also in the time saved in relocating it. The wheeled base on the 062.7200 and 062.7205 models, and the silent electrical height adjustment ensure the mount does the majority of the hard work. To enhance mobility, handles have been
fitted to the sides of the screen. Overall, the company says this is a stand that is compact in transportation and easy to install, as well as being durable and light enough to move from room to room.
Once fitted to a bracket containing most
VESA patterns, the display, which can be up to 135kg in weight, is secure. An additional feature of the mount is the desktop PC support that is available on the VESA embedded bracket. Displays can also be secured with a lockable lid and fitted with a keyboard platform and a laptop platform with a movable arm. SmartMetals provides a broad selection
of solutions for several display sizes: for screens up to 50in (and up to 65kg), 65in (90-100kg) and 70in (135kg).
Dutch mount manufacturer Vogel’s has seen a rise in the number of public spaces incorporating the use of tablet PCs. Retail outlets, museums, showrooms and exhibitions often need to present video, product information or interactive communication to customers, and iPads and Android tablets are seen as a valuable device for delivering this
content effectively. Security is a must for successful tablet
application in spaces where an opportunist thief could strike. To resist tampering and thievery, Vogel’s latest range uses security screws to close the tablet into a high-quality aluminium and steel case, which has been manufactured with an opening for a Kensington lock as an optional security addition. According to Vogel’s, the enclosure does not impede connectivity features on the iPad or Android device, such as Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G. The device can still be operated while preventing unauthorised use thanks to the pinhole buttons used for home, power and volume; there is also a model which allows the home button to be fully accessed. VESA 100 x 100 mounting holes are
incorporated into the enclosures so that the solution is compatible with Vogel’s
existing VESA mounts, and direct wall mounting is also achievable. A number of wall and table mounts, as
well as floor and table stands, are available to support the TabLock enclosures. Enclosure models are PTS 1105 (designed for iPad with the home button accessible), PTS 1106 (iPad 2, home button hidden) and the PTS 1107 (for the Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1). Additional mounting options include the PTA 3001 floor stand, PTA 3002 table stand, PTA 3005 table stand with foot plate, and TabLock wall and table mounts.
