Contents Dear Reader,

It’s been a busy time in the education sector. Michael Gove’s proposed changes to the ICT curriculum kept all that was seen in January at BETT fresh in the minds of visitors to the Education Show last month. There to continue the buying process in other areas, with so many questions left unanswered by policy makers, information and guidance was at a premium. Our review of the show (p18-19) outlines the current challenges and looks at how the show provided a range of options designed to meet the needs of a ‘less prescriptive’ curriculum.

Also this month, Director of BESA Ray Barker explains why schools need to start spending again (p16); while Anne Puntis, Chief Executive, University of Cambridge International Examinations discusses bridging the gap between school and university (p17). And that’s not all! There is another event for your diary – BFE UK takes place next month at the Business Design Centre, Islington. The two day event will cover the shift in focus from new building to refurbishment in the education sector over the past 12 months. Find out more on page 14!
