] GIRL POWER Nicole Morley LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA.
Thank you for featuring a women’s lacrosse player on the cover of Lacrosse Magazine (“Magnetic Force,” April 2012). So many young girls play on tournament teams now and subscribe to the magazine. They need role models, and they need to feel that there is room for them in this sport too. When my 8-year-old saw Emma Hamm on the cover, she grabbed it and kissed it. Then she looked at Emma’s picture and said, “She looks tough!” That story really speaks for itself. There are a lot of us out there who would love for women to be more strongly represented in Lacrosse Magazine.
FORWARD
THINKING Just read Joel Censer’s excellent article on the Philly Wings (“Hard Knocks,” April 2012) and how difficult it is to make it in the NLL as a former college offensive field player. It confirms what I often mention to fellow Wings fans at the games: almost all American field players who make the NLL as (offensive) forwards played attack in college. It looked like the Wings were going to give Max Seibald a shot at the forward position. However, as is the case with former middies Pat Heim and Paul Rabil, it is difficult to learn all the nuances and fakes that come with having spent your lax career around the opponent’s cage.

GLUED TO TUBE We are so excited they are going to air MLL and NCAA games on ESPNU, ESPN and CBSSN (“Must-See TV, March 2012). We play for the Thrashers, a Winston-Salem U13 team in North Carolina. We are pumped that lacrosse is rising in popularity and also that women’s lacrosse is being shown on TV. I have a sister who plays. She is new to the game and loves it. I hope Cornell goes all the way.

LAX IN KANSAS I read with interest the letter from Dani Kasmarik (“Peachy Keen”, March 2012) regarding the lack of attention paid to lacrosse in Georgia. Try Kansas. Many of us are transplants. Our children brought the game with them from other parts of the country. College programs have discovered the talent here. They love that Midwestern work ethic. Yeah we know — we are in the middle of nowhere. Have sticks, will travel.
