March has been a very busy month starting with Belinda, Christine and I visiting the International Hardware Show in Cologne. We spent a very busy three days at this Trade Fair which attracted around 53,500 trade visitors from 132 countries. See the report later in these pages with photographs of some of the exhibitors and information on new products launched at the show. Christine and I have also been out and about visiting Tool and
Hire shops. It is interesting to see the diverse range of businesses we serve, speak to our readers and gather feedback on their views on ToolBUSINESS+HIRE Magazine. Richard Reynolds from Gem Tool Hire and Sales Ltd in Bicester entertained us with his rich experience of working in the industry for many years. This included a story about accompanying a husband outside to confirm that a product was unavailable and reassure his wife that it was not just an excuse to delay the work! Christine and I also attended the ‘Troy Means Business’ event at
Silverstone – read the first report of this Trade Show on page18 – there will be more to see in our May edition. There are three first-rate independent tool reviews this month
from Peter Brett. The review of the Tyrolit PIONEER range of Abrasive Discs – Peter calls them “ unusually different” - makes for particularly interesting reading. There is also a review of two SDMO 3000 portable generators and two cordless nailers from the Poppers SENCO F16 Fusion range. The Voice of the Industry is an excellent article from Jimmy Cook
who has a wealth of experience in the industry. His remit was to write about some of the changes he had seen over the years – quite a tall order, but he has done a sterling job! Last month I was invited to Toolstream in Yeovil for a tour of the premises and to view a launch of a new range of
products added to their portfolio. Turn to pages 12 and 13 for an account of the visit and their company profile. When you have finished reading this edition of ToolBUSINESS+HIRE Magazine take a few minutes to visit our website
at
www.toolbusiness.co.uk where you will find past editions in page turning format on the archive page. Click on Tool Reviews and choose a heading to read reviews you may have missed and also Video Showcase for videos of products featured in the magazine. The Directory web page enhances the pages in our magazine with live links to the company email and website for quick and easy contacts for the information you need. News Update and Product Showcase takes you to up to the minute news on some of the latest innovations in the industry. All our contact details are there so feel free to call if we can help in any way.
