FACEBOOK: The social media giant has launched its App Centre in the UK. The store allows Facebook users to acquire additional apps whilst browsing the site. There are currently 600 apps registered on the service.


MEGAUPLOAD: The file- sharing site’s creator Kim Dotcom confirmed over Twitter that MegaUpload would return “Bigger. Better. Faster”. There are currently no details on when the site will actually relaunch.


GAMESAID: Get Games and GamesAid are calling indie developers to action for an upcoming charity pack. The Little BIG Bunch 2, due in September, will allow customers to pay what they like and the donations will go towards children’s charities.


BUNGIE: Beatles man Sir Paul McCartney will be joining forces with the Halo- developer to possibly work on Activision-published title ‘Destiny’. McCartney tweeted that he was excited to be working on writing music for a game by Bungie.


SQUARE ENIX: Final Fantasy VIIwill return to PC via digital download with new features such as cloud saves, a character booster and achievements.


Top Five target for Borderlands Role-playing shooter can match Call of Duty and Halo, says Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford by James Batchelor


THE ORIGINAL was a sleeper hit in 2009, but developer Gearbox Software says the upcoming Borderlandssequel could be one of 2012’s Top Five games. Borderlands 2arrives for 360, PS3 and PC on September 21st, making it the first major launch in the run-up to Christmas. The game is already winning over the press and consumers alike with its unique art style and randomly generated weaponry. “It seems like an impossible dream, but every metric we look at tells us that certainly it’s a Top Ten game of 2012 – it looks like a Top Five game,” Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford told MCV. “The other top games are all

“People are emailing me right now that are pissed off,” said Pitchford. “They’re mad at me because our Ultimate Loot Chest Edition sold out instantly. There’s a lot of demand out there.” Retail is in for a busy Q4 sales period, but Pitchford says Borderlands has already proved it can hold its own against the steepest competition.
